The printer's 'print Network Report' output implies to me that the network settings at the printer are good, but I'm no expert with networking. So I know the connectivity is physically good. get this - the Simple Scan application can scan a document from the multufunction printer over the network. I can ping to the printer from two Linux Mint computers on the network. The Printer is setup (via printer's front panel controls) with a Static IP Address. I have collected considerable information and reviewed that information, but I see nothing that gives me a clue what is wrong.Ĭonnectivity is via wired network through an Ethernet switch.
Linux Mint shows a notice, after boot, saying the the Printer is not connected and CUPS as well as various applications agrees (similar worded status message - printer not connected). I installed the driver files using the Brother driver installer script downloaded from the Brother support website. I need help getting a Brother MFC-J870DW Multifunction printer to work with LinuxMint-17 (64-bit).
